It was a bright evening, very unusual for an autumn irish weather. sun's glorious golden rays filtered through annually aged, withered and nearly droping yellowish red chips on the bark. the orangish redish hue has filled the air with a grandeous sepia feel. the air is fresh and crisp and smells beautiful. As I stood staring on to the sky blankly something caught my eyes. A group of Seagulls. they were flying around. seagull's have fascinated me eveer since I came to this little island of no snakes. Over the time, I have figured out, they are highly intelligent avian species well evolved during the years. cute enough to beak up a fish from the fishmongers tray of fish cocktails when the lady is at business. Hoosh......., wave, shout or scare them away, they just hop on to the near by box and wait with utmost patience for window of oppurtunity. They fly around in great orchestration, dancing flapping, gliding and droping down at a wink of an eye but then flapping away.
it wasn't theire acrobatic skills that amused me. But what are these feathered gymnasts doing inland, when they should be out in sea (their natural habitat). They should be on a mission of deadliest catches braving the sea and wind.... I let this amusement brew up a bit more untill frustration grew and grew. the cerebral cortex clock kept clicking on untill a pattern of naturality followed and emerged from this acrobatic sessions of sea gull.... Hurray... these sea gull shows are followed by gusty winds and rain. it was the aproaching storm and rain which forced them in to inland. was it just a deduction of half yearly coincidence or is there more to it.
why and how do they do it.
how could seagulls figure out an approaching storm. May be changing wind currents are picked up by the extra sensitive wind sensors or it could be a change in atmospheric pressure which are picked up by sophisticated physiological barometers or even it could be change in temperatures picked up by proven avian thermometers........or may be its the change in humdity................ dont know why but to me nature has its own ways of communicating with the nature's own human kind only if we would listen...........
